ALIED More Unusual Trigger Points Course

Acupuncture Course Development

This is a one day trigger point course written for delegates who have undertaken the Foundation Acupuncture training and a Basic Trigger point course. It is designed to:

• Enhance existing trigger point skills
• Incorporate the more unusual, facial trigger points
• Incorporate deep cervical, thoracic and pelvic trigger points

Learning Objectives

The course will

• offer delegates a revision of trigger point pathology and physiology
• offer delegates an understanding of fascial planes and needling application
• pay particular attention to the safety of deep cervical and fascial trigger point needling
• incorporate abdominal and pelvic trigger points
• offer a clinical reasoning model of trigger point intervention
• offer in depth clinical analysis of presenting pain dysfunction in the area of:
  • TMJ dysfunction
  • thoracic pain and cervical dysfunction
  • pelvic pain

Learning outcomes

Delegates will obtain a full understanding of:

• The pathophysiology of myofascial pain
• Safe, effective trigger point needling for:
  • Myofascial Fascial pain
  • Myofascial Cervical dysfunction
  • Myofacial Thoracic pain
  • Myofascial Pelvic pain
• Clinical reasoning in case presentations
• Practical skills in trigger point needling
