Acupuncture Course Outline
This course integrates Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM] Acupuncture, trigger points and electro-Acupuncture theory into manual and exercise therapy for respiratory care. It includes an evidence based, clinical reasoning paradigm incorporating recent research protocols to support your choice of management.
This course has been specifically designed to facilitate learning for:
- Physiotherapists working in the field of respiratory rehabilitation
- Outpatient and inpatient care
The course will include:
- Pathophysiology of pain and respiratory dysfunction with a view to Acupuncture management
- Physiology of Acupuncture with reference to:
- Breathlessness
- Cough
- Asthma
- COAD
- Respiratory distress
- Anxiety
- Myofascial Pain, trigger point contributions to lung dysfunction
- Integration of clinical reasoning within Acupuncture
- Evidence to support Acupuncture protocols
Indicative Acupuncture Content
- Power point presentations of theoretical aspects of condition,
- Clinical reasoning within action groups with patient scenarios,
- Submission of a 2,500 word case study of a patient presenting with a condition relevant to this course.
